Chapter eighteen
Brittany
W e are here at the Elders main ship. Itâs located behind Saturn. To say this is a âshipâ is an understatement. I agree with the floating city remark. It's like several cruise ships clumped together. The view arriving here is fantastic. Brok is here, so it makes me feel better. I know he won't let anything happen to me. He's been appointed to my guard. The elders guards, or as I call them, henchmen, show Brok and me where I will be staying. We walked into the room. It's nice and homey. It's bigger than Ragnar's captain quarters that I've been staying in. I don't need such a lavish big room. I'm suspicious. Thereâs an enormous four-poster bed and an artificial fireplace. I know that old alien guy said I'm not a prisoner. I'm his guest. He's up to something, and I'm going to find out what. It would be a great honeymoon suite, but Iâm not marrying that elder guy. I see there are a bunch of clothes folded and placed neatly on the bed. That I appreciate, I need a bra and underwear.
âWhere are you going to sleep; in here?â I asked Brok.
âIâll sleep in the worker's quarters. There will be no need for me to sleep in this room with you. The door locks from the inside only, so no one will be able to enter the room. I brought you a comm device so you can call me at all times,â Brok said coolly.
âThanks. Hey Brok. Do you have any of your super-secret invisibility devices?â
âI do. I know what you are thinking. That we can break out Ragnar and sneak out of here, we canât do that. The elder will hunt us all down. He would never stop looking, and we couldnât hide forever. You heard what he said; he would hang me. That goes for Ragnar as well. He would keep you as his prize.â
âThat dirty old bastard would keep me as his trophy? I will not end up as arm candy and let him kill my boyfriend and his best friend. I wonât let that happen. Iâll get us all out of here,â I say.
Now that Iâm not stuck in bed doing the mattress mambo constantly, Iâll get to work figuring this out.
âIâll figure this out. Thatâs what I do best.â I say confidently. Brok looks a bit gloomy, understandably.
âHere. I made this for you. Iâve been working on this for a couple of weeks. You know my stealth technology is the most advanced in the universe. You also know only a few of us know about the stealth shield that covers our bodies. That one took a long time to figure out. Itâs a trick of the light and more of an illusion, anyway. I originally made the device a bracelet you could wear because for it to work, it needs to be close to the skin, so as your body moves, so does it. But Iâve been working on a necklace.
